Martin...check out Jen Swoffords website for some ideas also at
www.baskingspot.com
I sure like some of her cage designs. Keyword: nose abrasions & tail trauma /when building this "last cage" keep that foremost in your mind then the sky's the limit! Ive had to rebuild this outdoor enclosure I have my male in 3 times because he kept cutting up his nose..thank goodness for fiberglass pet screening! What state do you live in Martin? maybe refer you to some links..to affordable supply companies like for ceramic heat emitters for 9.00 (usually pet stores charge about 30.oo) or heating systems like ProProducts offer (really nice! and affordable). Is this cage your planning on building for outside or inside?
Mines outside under partially enclosed patio..on casters ..custom built 7'x6'x6'. My male ig is a tad over 5Ft. Your dimensions sound fine for an adult Ig. Might need check on the melamine if you are planning on keeping outside temperature variants might have a warping effect..dunno for sure.
