i just wanted to point something out. a cage that is only 30 inches deep is not nearly big enough. the 5 -6 feet elswhere is good, but the cage should be at least as deep as your iguana is long to allow turnaround room. also, the way i am looking at it for my iguana, is why bother building 2 or even 3 differnet cages and spending 3 x the money when you really only need to build a cage once. inother words, make the cage you are planning on building large enough for a full grown iguana( make it five feet deep!). that wayit`ll save you time and money later because you`ll never have to build another cage due to your iguana out growing it. everything else about the cage sounded fine. also, since you are feeding frozen veggies are you supplementing with brewers yeast or someother source of b vitamins? frozen foods, even when frozen for only a short time lose vital b vits like thiamin which if not supplemented to make up for this loss can cause tremors and other problems in your iguana. just a couple of questions..... nice to meet you and hope to see you in this forum often!
meagan: : Nice to meet you HD. I am text book person when it comes to my herps. I read about 3 books prior to buying my iggy.

: I feed Cheek kale, ocassional spinach, turnip greens , collard greens, shredded carrots, frozen vegetables prepared in a steamer and cooled before serving (ie.) lima beans, peas and carrots and the list continues. I try very hard to give Cheek a diversified diet.

: I am in the planning stages of building a larger enclosure for Cheek.

: I am quite handy but i am debating about building a cage or buying one from Custom cages. I spoke to Hans of custom cages and he was super helpful. My dilemma is, buy a cage and support a fantastic company which is definately advantageous to serious herpers or save some money and build a cage myself. I think i'll buy one and build another for my other herps.

: Oh the proposed enclosure would be about 5 - 6 feet tall by 30 inches wide to 5 long. I plan on building it in May.

: Thanks for the response and concern. Martin

: PS sorry i'll miss this upcoming chat. I am working late that night I will definately join the next chat next time around.
