Johnny is referring to my Ig that had renal failure going on. He hadn't eaten in several weeks, lost weight, but when ever he was outside
he would eat the dirt and was very persistant in doing so. Wouldn't touch any food, but the dirt was always eaten.
Unless your Ig is having other problems, eating the dirt may just be a phase thing.
I know my Female would always eat newspaper. She will also go up to the plastic
garbage bags and try to eat them, also she'll go to the vaccum cleaner and try and eat it.
I think I've figured out why though.
The bags are glad scented ones, and the vaccum cleaner picks up scented carpet fresh.
Maybe this all smells good.
This probably doedn't help much in explaining the sand eating behavior.
It wouldn't hurt to have blood work done to check the uric acid levels.
