people have posted before asking why their ig's spikes were getting kinda transparent on the tips ... i didn't know what they meant til iZ's started to do it .... i always thought that i kept a pretty close eye on his spikes when they were shedding but have realized that the shed is just *not* as obvious on the spikes and it is *very* easy to miss the stuck ones!!!!

it all comes down to they *need* to soak when they're shedding ... just misting doesn't loosen the spikes .... iZ does not really appreciate water that's deeper than a couple inches ... so i put a wet washcloth over his back to 'soak' his spikes when he's in the tub ... works *great*!!!! those spikes just slip right off (and the color is coming back to some of the tips ... ) i'm still amazed how easy it is to miss a spike shed that's stuck! i thought i was keeping such a close eye on 'em .... hmmmmm ....

i've tried the mineral oil on iZ and had good results ... 'specially his tail which seems hard to shed just cuz it's such a thicker layer ... use it *very* sparingly tho!!!!!
