I am a Science teacher that was talked into taking a 4 yr. old female iguana. I did alot of researching before she arrived in late March. I'm usually a small dog person, however, I have fallen in love with "Jewel". Her old parents were not housing or feeding her correctly. I have made numerous improvements. She is the spoiled child of our school. She is not a biter, but did whip her tail quite a bit in the beginning. I also have a few wrist scars. (I now use cut up long socks.) She gets a walk in our courtyard every day during my off-period. She also has a large, but shallow, plastic bin I use for her bath. She bathes and "poops" consistently daily. Her spikes were in bad shape, but are looking better. My husband is going to help me build her a bigger and better cage for inside. However, she will get to spend alot of time outside here in Austin. He wasn't thrilled about her moving home with me for the Summer. Anyway, sorry so long, just wanted to say thanks for a great site with great info.
