I have a male iguana, Louie, 3.5yr,4.5 SVL, healthy. He started his breeding season episode, his first one, about November. He progressively became more and more aggressive- then he bit me and I had to get 10 staples in my arm. That was in Feb., he is still acting crazy! Right before this he was very friendly and tame. He has an enclosure, but was a part time free-roamer, now I do not let him out. Louie barely lets me get his food and water in there! I've read that it should only last 2-3 months, it has been 5 1/2 months!
-Louie has a pretty good diet of greens, veggies, little fruit
-He has a Powersun 160 floodlight (He doesn't have the benefit of much natural sunlight, unfortunately)
-I invested much time and energy obtaining his trust over the years, and I never let him dominate me- so I am very puzzled by his ongoing behavior.
I know that males turn into monsters during this time, but I've never read about them NOT returning to normal.
What's going on here? Anybody?
