:Oh definitely get him off the particle substrate. Newspapers or linoleum is a better bet. They will ingest many substrates and this can cause impaction.
oh im paranoid about that (goldfish are on sand, turtles have no substrate, ferret & hedgie are on blankies/towels) the bottom of Zephyrs cage is blankies/towels, but his old 55g had lizard litter in it, yech.
:Broccoli and bananas are not really that great for them. I would only use as a rare treat.
Yeah, my mom offered the brocolli and he actually ate, lol, and i heard that they like bananas as a treat so i mixed the calcium with it. now that hes started eating for me (after only 2 days, im so proud lmao) hes also been eating some leftover peas, and snow peas, not touching any of his other salad yet..lol =/
:Good luck with the xrays...hope there isn't any impaction. I've heard the same conflicting info. on tums. I've used them before but not consistantly. Once your ig is in good health, you really don't need calcium supplementation IF you feed a proper well balanced calium rich diet. (collard, turnip, watercress dandelion, escarole, etc.)

yep and ive never had an animal with MBD yet, so i was going to wait and ask the vet, but i gave a tab mixed with the banana, and he only took a few bites of banana, so i wrote that down in the log (tomarrow @ 1pm is the vet appt)

(who also just got her first ig nip, and so thankful that it was no worse then a small superficial scrape)
