Tell her, and just as importantly her mother, that if they choose not to take the ig to a vet and get it treatment that they could and should be charged with neglect/cruelty should anyone find out their particular identity/location. Other than keeping everything, including the wound, as clean and sanitary as possible there is nothing that she can do without getting a proper diagnosis. Everyone out here can GUESS what is wrong with the ig but without someone with a veterinary background actually examining it there is little to no chance of correctly guessing the ailment. Maybe the mother will consider it more serious if what sounds like an infection turns gangrenous and either costs the ig the leg or, worse, it's life. But, hey, it's "only" an iguana and the second one that your friend has had at that. I don't think I want to know where the first one is or what sort of "husbandry" is being followed. Somehow, I have a feeling that lettuce, hot rocks, and/or crickets would be involved. Anyone want to put a "nicer" spin on it ?
