My new adoptee and 3 questions

This is the iguana I decided to adopt from a couple who have had him in a 4 ft long fishtank for a year & a half. He's about 4 yrs old & 3'5". He has been tame before but since he's been sort of neglected for the past year & a half, he is adverse to handling, but is believed to settle down again after some TLC. I am going to let him free roam... I live in a 720 sq ft apartment, I plan to keep my bedroom and bathroom doors closed so he has about 500+ sq ft to roam in. I don't have much furniture & or any fire hazards so I am not too worried about that.

Potty training: how to? This is what worries me! I was told you just need to watch where they poop the first couple times, then replace it with newspaper or a litter box. What about the bath, do they poop in water like water dragons do?

I am a little concerned about males in breeding season, especially after I read some posts! What exactlty is up with that & how should I handle it? I just emailed the owners to see how he acted in previous years, but they haven't replied yet.

Also, how do I go about clipping his nails? I mean, how far away from their toe do you cut? I was just around a 4 foot female today & have the wounds to prove it. Don't they sell lizard nail cutters at Petco?

I plan to pick him up next Friday... so I'll have some more questions around then!
~Danielle
