I just took Spike(My five year old iguana)to the vet today. He is off feed and lost weight, not drinking or passing anything out. He has been like this for over a week. There was no sign of dehydration, but I was still bathing him 2 daily, and giving him pedialyte. This morning his eyes were sunk in, and I got really scared. He had an appointment till Saturday, because they were booked. But I could not wait any longer. My wife took him to the vet while I was working. They did blood work, and said every thing looked ok. His calcium/phosphorus ratio is fine. Results said AST was a little high, but she said it could be from an infection. I should get the rest of the results tommorrow. She gave me fluids and told me to inject 40 cc daily or twice a day. He was given antibiotics, and have engough for two more doses(every 72 hours). I am to give him strawberry ensure and pedialyte every day, along with daily baths, and keep temps and humidity up. I am really worried, I have never experienced anything like this with him before. Can anybody share any comforting thoughts or experiences? He is 4.5 feet going on 5" and weighs 4.32 kg( as of today, he has lost weight.) Approx. 5 or 6 years old, very beatiful and tame.
Will post later results
