I've had to use a cat cage in a pinch for an ig house. Two things I want to point out are 1.) The cage was in a "reptile room" where the ambiant heat and humidity were high enough for the iguana to be comfortable. 2.) This particular cat cage was made of rubber/plastic coated wire.
The problem with most cat cages is that the wire they are made of, if uncoated, can be sharp enough to do injury to an iguana. Also, agin like the parrot cage, unless you live in a tropical environment OR have a room set up with constant high heat and humidity, it's difficult to regulate heat and humidity because it is so open.
Flavia, when you give advice you need to keep in mind that you live in a tropical place, the person you are giving advice to might not. Using the types of cages you are suggesting are not going to work for most people. Most people are going to need to create a tropical environment.
