The problem with using a parrot cage is that it is very difficult to maintain proper temps and humidity unless you live in a tropical climate. I live in New England and it's been getting as cold as -16 to -25 at night lately, even with running the house heat to keep the ambiant at 72*, I still have to run individual heaters. A parrot cage can be okay for an outdoor summer cage but to be honest, I have a green wing macaw and a large parrot cage for him new costs over $1000.00, used they run about $600-$800. That's a lot of money to spend on a cage that isn't well suited for a non-tropical environment. I feel the same way about Reptariums.
With a little bit of knowldge, some plywood and a few basic tools, you can build a dencent house for less than $1000.00. A few months ago I got to see an awesome house built for 2 igs! It was simple but beautiful and very practicle. The people had it in their living room and it looked really nice!
