The cage may be fine for now but the iguana is only about half grown. And no they don't always do what they need to do to stay healthy. Mine takes great delight in hiding under the couch in spite of the fact that is is cold and drafty down there. We have taken an animal and placed it in a very unnatural situation so their natural instincts may be somewhat circumvented. It's up to us as keepers to make sure they get what they need. And as for his habits fitting the current cage, what happens when he (if a male) is a bit bigger and goes into one of those breeding seasons from hell and has to be confined for an extended period of time. Bigger is just better.
