It makes sense that an igs tail always grows faster than the body. Let me explain:
An iguanas tail is 2-3X their body length. If a baby iguana is 6" svl, and 18" stl, if the tail did not grow at twice the rate as the body, by the time it was an adult it would have a short tail, such as follows:
6" body + 18" growth = 24" body
12" tail + 18" growth = 30" tail
Where as in normal growth, (as you mentioned)
6" body + 18" growth = 24" body
12" tail + 36" tail growth = 48" tail
So you see, the tail HAS TO grow at 2-3x the rate of the body, to maintain proportion.
