In Reply to: Appetite loss in mating season--how much and how long? posted by lily on January 15, 2003 at 16:47:03:
During Tarzan's first breeding season, the only sign of it was the plugs. This year (his 2nd), he had color change, a lot of appetite loss, and was skittish. I don't know if he just passed them with his bowels or hid them away or something(=P), but I did not notice as many plugs; maybe a couple times only.
The appetite loss is normal, their hormones are raging! Offer food as usual. Once his breeding season ends (duration varies per individual), you'll see a dramatic increase in appetite.
Don't fret about it too much, it's normal. =)
