Appetite loss in mating season--how much and how long?

Phil is definitely going through his first mating season and I'm finding little plugs all over the place (yick). I have read that iguanas will experience a loss of appetite while in season and am wondering about how much the decrease should be, if any, and for how long it should last? If there is supposed to be a pronounced decrease (Phil is eating a bit less), should I let him be or try to urge him to eat more? Help is appreciated,
