Although we are in the raining season the temp was high today around 90 and the day was sunny without clouds.I decided to put Kenya outdoors to take some direct sunlight. She lives in a huge cage placed in the kitchen, the warmest room in my home.So i put her in a birds cage outside the kitchen's window.5 minutes later, not more than 5 my maid called me very nervous saying Kenya was jumping in the cage.I took Kenya and i saw she was panting and shaking her limbs as she was having a convulsion. She became yellow and when i looked at her eyes i noticed i was losing her.I became hysterical!!I took her to the bathroom where i threw some water on her overheated body, i talked with her , i kissed her, i put her near the airconditioning but i didnt soak her completely in a cold water because i read its not good because can cause a fatal chock in the iguana. It took her almost one hour to become green again and now, after a few hours, she still is weak and yellowish. Who said iguanas can tolerate a temp that goes until 100F??Who said baby iguanas needs more heat than grow up igs??Thats not true!!My adult igs live outdoors without problems even in a sunny day like today but Kenya after 5 minutes was dying!!!
