that it's not getting any/enough UVB becuase it's in the aquarium. Glass, unless specifically engineered to allow it, prevents any UVB from passing through it. Small gauge screen or wire mesh will have the same effect. I've found that anything smaller than 1/2" wire mesh will decrease the amount of available UVB by as much as 50%.
