Hot rocks are no good for iguanas for 2 reasons.
1. All hot rocks are furnished with cheap thermostats, which will eventually break and burn your iguana.
2. Hot rocks are contrary to natural iguana living. Iguanas get their heat from the sun, above them. Some might claim that, in the wild iguanas utilize rocks that are heated up by the sun. This is untrue because iguanas bask in trees, while the rocks below are blocked from the sun by foliage.
God gave iguanas circulation systems for a reason, so that when the top warms up, the bottom warms up too. Just provide plenty of heat from above and plenty of uvb.
(p.s.) - this vet was probobly right, iguanas with hot rocks usually only have hot rocks. Therefore laying on the hotrock is the only way to warm and digest.
