Recently, I attended a herp club meeting about Thermoregulation. The speaker was a well known valley reptile vet who shall go unnamed. During the presentation a question was asked, "why do Iguanas burn their bellies on hot rocks?" Dr. unnamed, answered "because I feel they are making a choice between burning their tunmmies or digesting their food." Now, I'm gullable but I'm not that gullable. My take is a little different. Iguanas evolved to bask from the top down not from the bottom up. Therefore, the critical heat sensors are on the belly. In addition, the sun is warming up the lizard rocks
