Speaking as a professional member of the humane community and not as a "hobbyist", there is a larger problem here than whether or not someone got their feelings hurt. The problem is blatant from the photographs provided by the person - there is abuse/neglect going on. Now, whether or not the situation is real or the person is faking it to get a reaction out of the group does not matter in the eyes of the law. The iguana is being kept in filthy conditions and is in obvious need of medical attention. Furthering that thought, if the person is indeed keeping the iguana as he/she stated which I believe was in the dark, with only a hot rock, on cedar and feeding it McDonalds, that only goes to further the animal cruelty charges. Unlike many others here, because of my job if you will, I has no choice but to report the indident to the proper authorities but that does not mean that I do not have my own personal opinion of the person posting the drivel in the first first place. And just an FYI other message forums have suffered the same type of incident before, I am not the first to see that something like this gets reported to the proper authorities.

I'm not sure who you are or if we have ever come in contact before so please forgive me if I seem gruff or unforgiving but ... it appears to me that maybe you do not know the majority of the people on this board or some of the great works they have performed in the areas of humane work and/or rescue. Many of these people have given selflessly of their homes, time, talents and money to work with "throw-away" reptiles and it truely angers them when someone like this person comes along. Even those that simply enjoy the "hobby" of keeping reptiles but aren't involved in humane or rescue tend to be extremely passionate about the living creatures they keep. So, when someone comes here for help and then chooses, for whatever reason, to post the blatant misinformation and photos the person posted, it makes it difficult for them to keep a civil tongue as well.

Whether this person is a "troll" or not, the quesion begs to be asked ... What is the Kingsnake Moderator's position when someone posts potentially blatant cruelty/neglect/abuse photos or information? Is it to punish those with the courage to speak up against it and allow the person to get away with their behavior? Or, is it to do something to end the posting of such disturbing photos/information and assist local animal cruelty in asertaining if the problem is real or phoney?

Respectfully,

J. Dillon
