Having said all of that and after reviewing and re-reviewing the numerous posts regarding the latest disruption on the Iguana forum about the iguana in the closet there is this to consider:

Gray areas like this; there is no absolute right or wrong way - no easy clear-cut answer or method to settle the matter each and every time. Every forum on this site is unique in its own way and what works on one forum in helping to settle problems does not always work elsewhere. Ultimately, no matter what is done to take care of a situation such as this, there are always going to be people who are not happy with the results.

With the exception of a few posts, the majority of the responses to the discussion and in those discussions split off from it have been decent. To go beyond that and remove the remaining portions of the multi-spanned discussion without a consensus of opinion to justify its removal would lead to more problems than to simply keep them under current moderation.

Now, if you would prefer a different method for dealing with this particular situation there is this that is willing to be considered: if a consensus can be reached to agree to have all posts relating to the matter removed, it can be done. The default is to leave things as they currently stand and everyone left with the option and personal choice to continue to participate or abstain from further participation in those discussions.

Your choice.
