You aren't going to like what I am going to say (I didn't the first time someone said it to me) but if you really think about it hard, you will know it is true....
Never go in the store again, Never buy anything from them again. Forget about the iguana. Call your local humane society, or whoever deals with reporting bad petstores in your area. REPORT THEM. You cannot save every iguana and the only thing you are doing by buying these animals is giving them money for them to get more animals to mistreat. As soon as you pay them $80 for this sad creature, they will buy another for $5 and mistreat him until the next animal-loving sucker comes in the store and feels sorry for him. It is never ending. The only way to stop it is to report them. You can try to educate, you can try to reason with them to give him to you...but if all else fails you must just report them. To this day, there are some iguanas that haunt me (ones I couldn't save)....ones with diseases all over their bodies, ones lying on the bottom of the cage, half dead...the horror never ends. The worst part is, there are way more petstores like this than ones that aren't.
