Hi Mr. D and everyone else who replied with great advise:
and thank you SO MUCH...this is such a great place, you all are so kind and helpfull. With this kind of help, I might be able to pull this off after all. :)

Okay....

As for the wood chips. I know it's really bad for them and that was one of the many reasons I was upset with the pet store...I'd think they would know better. I've taken out the chips and put down news paper. It looks icky and gets wet quickly, so I'd like to find something else. I was thinking about indoor/outdoor carpet....would that be alright? That way I could take it out and give it a good clean job and it would look better. I also like the idea of the paper-like chips...I'll have to look into that.

:I'm curious as to what brand of bulb that the store sold your son that didn't fit in the dome completely.

I'm not sure of the brand, but the bulb was bigger than the dome so when set on top of the screen it wobbled back and forth. An accident looking to happen if there ever was one.

There was a ReptiSun/IguanaLight 5.0 fluorescent tube that lays across the length of the tank....a floor heater pad that lays in the side corner and of course that poor excuse for a heat lamp. I kept the fluorescent tube and the heat pad, I got rid of the heat lamp and replaced it with one that was similar but that had a side clip (now clips to stable surface) and I also bought a complete unit. This one came with the fluorescent light, heat lamp and a night lite/heat lamp. I bought that because it seemed safer and included everything together. It only covers half the tank (like a 20 gal) So I use that WITH the other heat lamp and the longer fluorescent is used instead of the little one. It sounds like a lot but I think it works okay.....what are you thoughts? Overkill? The tank stays very warm (about 88)and at night the night light gives off like a very soft moonlight with heat (night temp about 75...to cold?)

I've put a ladder in there which they seem to enjoy and are able to position themselves as close to or as far from the lights as they like. They also have crocodile head in there with a gapping mouth which they really like to lay spread eagle on.

I'm new to all this and it's gonna take some trial and error, I'm sure......so any thoughts would be great.

Their diet is made up of Mustard greens, Collard greens, 2 different lettus types...NOT iceburg, I just can't think of the names right now. I also give them fresh green peas, raddish, grapes, apples, cucumbers. Again.....your thoughts on the diet would be greatly appreciated as well! :) I took out their food bowl and put a small plate in there and I've actually seen them SCARFING they're food! Whoooo Hooooo :)))

I'm going to get a copy of that book as soon as I can...I think I need it! :) I'v also ordered them a volcano type humidifier thing. I'm not sure I need to do that, but I think they may like it. Hmmmmm.....I already need a bigger cage!!! lol....the crocodile head will have to go soon.....running out of room.

I do have another question: As you know, I have two little guys. They actually seem quite different in personality. One is a bit bigger and thicker than the other....is green all over with the dark rings around the tail and is more currious and active. The smaller one has a brownish head and rings around his/her middle as well as the tail. The smaller one also has (sometimes) blue jewl-like looking dots on the side of his/her head. It's very pretty, but normal? I'm not real sure how they're supposed to behave, but they seem very alert and are curious as to what's happening outside their tank...and actually seem to "ASK" to come out for a bit of handeling. (or maybe that's just me thinking they're talking to me) :)

Okay well....this once again was longer than I meant it to be...sorry. OH....I also wanted to say thank you for the vinager tip!! It works great and I don't feel like I'm just spreading they snalt around, or hurting them. THANX! :)

I'm sure I'll be talking to you again soon...... Ladi
