Im facing this problem with Dino my recently adopted new iglet. He has never been tamed before and he is already one year old.Well, during the day I put him in an outdoors huge cage(I live in a tropical country)to take sun and to enjoy some freedom of movements.Everyday at 5 PM I put him indoors and I keep him in a tiny tiny birdscage placed on the kitchen floor(The only place in my house where there is no air conditioning). He got used to see people around him and to be picked up by me.He even waits for that because he knows he will be petted and rubbed and kissed.Every day I handle him for one hour. He starts to enjoy the warmth of my hands.I never scare him.No loud voices/sounds.No abrupts movements, no noisy children running around, dogs barking etc...

Thats it.I did that before with Kenya , my other iglet, and now she is the sweetest iglet in the world!!Never try to escape!!

ha:I made the mistake, as many first time iguana owners do, of buying an iguana from a pet shop. The iguanas were fed lettuce. Luckily, before I made the mistake of feeding him the same, I did soem research online for proper iguana diets. Since then, I have fed him fresh food everyday and he has plumped up and looks and acts like a healthy iguana should. There is just one problem. I want to hold him! I never thought to look online for taming instructions, and ever since i put him in his new cage he acts scared and wont let me pick him up or hold him. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions that maybe you used on your iguana. That way i know that they're "proven effective." I appreciate the help, as I am a 16 year old iguana owner! I never knew it would be such a responsibility, but I am willing to do what it takes to ensure my iguana and I have a long happy relationship. Thanks for all the help!
