Mr D ---
You brought up some valid points! I was in discussion with a friend last nite and he also brought up the point that a sotre gets a warning but how long before positive changes are made before the actual fine, or when *would* be the next fine? Will the general public know that they can report a bad store???
:While the idea is excellent in theory....
:1.) The are no "standardized" caresheets being used at all. Store owners have to create their own which may still not ensure that correct information is being disseminated.
Perhaps this is where, for herps, that the local herp societies and rescue groups can get involved! It's an excellent opportunity to provide education and guidance, since the pet store may be more "willing" now to "make changes".
:2.) How is this going to be enforced? Unless stores are actually policed there will be no real way of determining whether or not stores are following the new statute. This could, however, be tacked on as far as complaint violations IF complaints are followed up on by authorities.....
Perhaps again, for herps, the local societies and rescue groups? Perhaps report to the law initiator himself (heck, it was his idea :D i would think he'd want to see the law actually work!) But, then again, the public has to know that there is this new law.
