Welcome to the Ig slave Capital of the world. You have just forfited any and all outside life you once had.
First question, How old are you? I'm sure other questions will follow as I and others think of them.
First of all GET RID OF THE LETTUCE!!!!! I stress this because any and all lettuce (Even romaine) is like Burger King, It has NO nutrition. Stick to Greens rich in Calcium such as Collards, Dandelions, turnip, Mustard, Watercress, Escrole, Endive, And I'm sure others will add to that list. Also think of Veggies like winter squash, green beans, peas, bell peppers, etc. Carrots aren't the best. And a little fruit as a treat. The ratio should be 60% Greens, 30-35% Veggies, and 5-10% fruit.
The substrate should be tile or newspaper. NOT BROKEN SHELLS or SAND or BARK! Those can be swallowed and cause internal damage.
The UV Light SHOULD BE a Reptisun 5.0 which is a Flouresant Bulb. There's another one but I can't think of the name. There should be a Basking spot about 100 degrees and a cool side that's about 80. A Ten Gallon tank WILL NOT DO!!!!! A MINIMUM Size cage for an adult is 6 feet high x 6 ft long x 3 ft deep. The bigger the better. Some people give ENTIRE ROOMS! to their Ig. Humidity should be kept 50%-70% at all times.
As far as sexing the Ig, That can't be done till it's mature and it sounds like you've only got a baby.
I'm forgeting something but I can't think of it right now. Someone else, back me up here please!
Good Books to get are "Iguanas for Dummies" and "Complete Guide To Iguanas". Stick around here to ask questions.
You now have an animal that will live about 15-20 years (With PROPER CARE) and will get more the 6 feet long and 20 pounds. Once they hit Breeding season they can get a REAL attitude and even become dangerous. I hope you're ready for something like that Cause now it's yours. Merry Christmas!
