It's pretty common for an iguana at that age to not want to be picked up, give her more time and keep up the good work with her climbing on you if she wants too.
You mentioned a heating pad. I hope you are not using one of those!
You also mentioned clipping nails some people may say no but in most cases I think that it is a good idea. My three year-old iguana's favourite spot is on top of my brush-cut head and shoulders. I wouldn't even want to think about the amount of damage (scars, bleeding, holes, etc.) I would have if I didn't trim his nails. I just take off the furthest tip on the claw so that he still has a sharp enough claw to climb and that's it. He even sits still while I do it. But somehow I doubt your young girl will do the same. You can see some pictures of boy on the following page...

Just copy the above link and paste it into the address column.
Hope I was helpful.

: i have a year and a half old female iguana, i got it off someone who did not care for it correctly...ie.. no uv lights no heat pad ect.. i got all the things reqired and built it a new home in my house with trees ect.. it has plenty of room and height now and has started to get use to me. I can feed it by hand and get it to climb on to me but if i were to go in and try to pick it up it becomes scared and has even bit once (painfull), is this just a case of letting her become used to me ?? Also i was wanting to know if you cut their nails, some people say yes others no ???.
: Any help welcome.
