:Being out-door, it will measure about 12 feet in length (oh yeah) 8 to 10 feet high (still undecided) and 8 feet wide (drool drool drool...).
Major drool!
:Fact or marketing bull scat?
It's being sold at a pet store, so the the answer should be self-evident... ;) Wheat grass is wheat - if allowed to grow to maturity, it would become the same wheat you'd make wheat flour from, making it the same wheat that is so bad when it is among the main ingredient in commercial iguana foods. It matters not whether the wheat grass is organic or not: it's still wheat.
:So is it a go for the wheat grass? This is for substrate, not food, but since iguanas put anything in their mouths, im sure some grass will be consumed.
Unless your friend is planning on scything his wheat crop, he'd do better with a sturdy lawn grass. That being said, not all grasses used for lawns are particularly healthy, either, so a mixure of okay ones should be okay, especially if the iguana is furnished with a variety of shelves and things to lounge around on above ground level.
:What do you think? Oh, and to add the cool factor, we'll plant basil, sage, and mint to give the place an nice scent (plus they're edible plants that regrow after the winter, so why not).
That's fine, but don't forget about plants like nasturtium and grape (both of which can be found in the vining/climbing forms, and so provide both shade and edible flowers, fruit and leaves through most of the the year (all year for the nasturtium, unless you live in snow country).
:If the iguana dies he can always cook it Italian style by adding the basil (KIDDING!) and some tomatoes
:(not included in the cage).
Whew! Tomato leaves and vines are toxic so you woudn't want them anywhere near mouth distance to the iguana. ;)
:So what do u think of the wheat grass? Yay or nay?
Nay. < Melissa looks around to see if she's somehow stumbled into HoreHobbyist.com ;>
Have you had a chance to check out the plant resources at my site?
Don't forget to post a picture of the enclosure once it's all done!
