Well yesterday we made a trip to Menards and Petsmarts. Oh boy did I get all kinds of ideas. LOL Anyway we picked up the rest of the supplies and hubby went to work. Well as of tonight the frame is completely put together, stained and polyurethaned. He just needs to put in the plexiglass, mesh and the top. Oh and put the tiles on the floor. Then we will have our basic cage done. I will work on the accessories like his basking shelves, decorations ect. SO my prediction is by next weekend he will be in his new cage. Im so excited, it is going to look pretty nice I think. I was wondering when we are finally ready to switch cages would it be better to slowly introduce him to it to avoid the stress on him. Like say the first few days just put him in during the day, but maybe at night put him back in his old cage, to maybe not shock him so much. I am concerned with the shock factor since he has been doing pretty well. When I got him his color was awful, kind of brown. Now he is eating a good diet and his color is nice and green. Allthough I think the color has more to do with the UV light, but I know his diet wasnt too good when I got him. He was getting some mixed lettuces, apple and commercial ig food. Now he mainly has mustard greens, collard greens and cantalope. I still try new stuff with him from time to time, but he isnt too impressed with them. But I will be persistant and keep introducing him to other veggies too. Today he ate from my hand again. Its funny the only thing he will take from my hand is the cantalope, I guess cause he loves it so much. It is definatly his favorite. I also measured him tonight and he is officially 20 inches long from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail. Since I dont know exactly how old he is I am not sure if he is small for his age or not. I was guessing he is about 18 months old, but considering he has never come into season and his femoral pores are barley visable maybe he isnt quite that old. Then agian maybe he isnt a he at all. LOL Only time will tell on that one. Ok I have babbled on enough. I will try to get some pictures of the new cage and ozzy here soon so I can post them for you all to see. Thanks for everyones help.
