I have to disagree with your comment on back and forth cage switching. It actually worked very well for me and made for the best cage transition I've ever had with a reptile. If you have the time and patience to do it, I highly recommend it! Sleestack doesn't like change like most iguanas...only he is a real pain about it. We went through a lot of grief on his first cage transition.
The second time, we let him stay in his old cage all day, then after his late afternoon potty break, we put him and his dinner meal in the new cage. He would be distracted by eating, but then fuss and panic a little (but not enough to have an accident since he just went to the bathroom). We only kept him in there an hour for a couple days. In a week, he was staying all night, but moving back to his old cage for his daytime basking (still hoping he stayed potty trained). Finally, we picked a weekend to keep him in there for good. We moved his old cage away so he couldn't see from the new cage. How did we know the time was right? Because he walks back from the bathroom on his own... and one day he stood between his old cage and new cage, looking back and forth, undecided where he was supposed to go. He used to automatically choose his old cage. That was the time to move the old cage and keep him in the new one for good! He never once had an accident or seemed upset. The whole process took a month but we were in no hurry since we wanted to wait until we were back from a vacation to transition him (didn't want to leave the sitters with an upset ig).
