Pet stores are really the last place to go for quality pet care advice, especially when it comes to reptiles.

You need to make sure you are caring for your iguana properly now (see my Iguana Care, Feeding & Socialization article). You also need to get him checked out by a reptile vet (if you don't already have one, see my Reptile Vets resource page).

Off hand, some of the things that will affect growth are undiagnosed/untreated systemic infections, parasite infections, and metabolic disorders, improper diet (all veggies are not created equal, nutritionally speaking ;), improper environment (incorrect temps, incorrect day/night cycles), and inappropriate daily and/or feeding schedule.

You can't yourself diagnose infections or metabolic disorders in your ig, nor can you safely just use whatever product the pet store sells, as these products range from worthless to so weak as to be ineffective at anything other than creating drug-resistant organisms, or completely inappropriate for the actual problem, something the pet stores are even less qualified to diagnose.

Dehydration can also cause digestion and growth problems, as can prolonged starvation. You might want to read my Fluids and Fluid Therapy in Reptiles and Emaciation (Starvation) Protocol articles, as well as browse through the others at my Health, Illness, Injury and Stress page, as well as the iguana-specific articles at my Green Iguana page. He is extremely skinny, with hip bones and upper tail vertebrae visible, so I wouldn't wait too much longer to get him checked out by a reptile vet and to make sure he's set up properly and being offered the correct food properly prepared.

Let us know what you figure/find out!
