I have noticed that when I have used the word "baby" around the lizards and the cats, that they seem to pay more attention to what I am saying. It has also worked with other people's pets too. For some reason, the mouth movement and pronounciation of the word "baby" illicits a response from the animal that you are talking too.

However, unless my animals have been taking English as a second language when I am not around, the has to another explanation - I really don't think that animals are saying baby to each other in the animal world with the same connotation that people in the English speaking world do. What you might wonder is ??? Do animals respond to the word BABY in the variuous different languages around the world - for instance, does an iguana respond to the word BABY when spoken in spanish or an indian dialect down in El Salvador ??

I know for a fact that when I used the word BABY with girlfriends and ex-wives, I tended to get a positive response, unless it was used in the context of "let's have a BABY". What is even more interesting is that other words used in conjunction with the word BABY would illicit an even higher degree of positive response - such words as Mercedes and Diamonds - which would often lead to a romantic interlude.

Back to your iguana:

If you wanted to make this into a little bit of a stimulus response experiment, try using words that rhyme with BABY and/or use the same mouth movement that BABY does - however to do it right, you need to keep your body still and focus your eyes directly on the lizard. This is so that he/she doesn't react to some other stimulus like eye or body movement.

If however, you think you have stumbled upon some cosmic conscience miracle, I would probably not get excited until your ig arranges his greens into the silhoette of the Madonna or Jesus before calling the press.

Have fun. CW
