Oh my where do I begin. I posted a couple of days ago about Ozzys new cage, well its not quite done yet. Actually it is not even close. So my hubby is going to take over the project from my dad who just hasn't had the time. It looks like the frame is built and sanded, routered ect, we just need to put it alltogether. I was wondering about a couple things. I guess his plan was to do plexi glass on the sides and the poly hardware cloth on the front. First I was wondering is poly hardware cloth the right stuff to use? I mean I know you dont want to use metal screen. The next question when I was calling to price plexiglass they said it comes in 1/4 or 1/8 inch thickness, which should I use? And by the way plexi glass is way more expensive than I thought. OUCH! The other question I had was he used pine to build the frame, top and bottom, and back wall of the cage. If I just polyurethane it will that be ok? Or would I be better to leave the wood naked so to speak, LOL. I am going to put a piece of linolium on the floor to make cleaning easier. The back wall is still undecided as to how that is going to be done. All I know for sure is some basking shelves. Ok next question is how to do the top. Because of lighting I can't use the poly stuff, but then I know you shouldn't use the metal screen either, so what do you use? My hubby and I are off for the next 3 days and I would really like to get this done by then. LOL I know that will be pushing it, but Ozzy really needs his new home, he has outgrown the current one. Oh yeah and I still have to figure out exactly where this monsterous cage is going to go in my sons room. Another huge project, that is long overdue. This is going to require totally cleaning out his room and rearanging everything. UGH! What a weekend I have ahead of me. Oh and thanks to those who replied to my last post. Someone had brought up the question of how I was going to keep the temps right with so much mesh, hardware cloth what ever you want to call it. LOL Well good point I hadn't really thought about. His cage now is reletivly small compaired to this one, so the temps haven't really been a problem. With this large of a cage I may have a problem there. My son does has a small space heater in his room so he does keep it pretty warm, he is about as cold blooded as the lizard. LOL But obviously not warm enough for what Ozzy needs. So we may have to make some changes there. I am planning on upgrading his lighting too, but financially I have to do this a little at a time. I have a feeling this cage will be a work in progress for awhile. But for now my goal is to get him into this over the weekend one way or another. Well at least start introducing him to it. Ok well I better run and get busy on my sons room. Thanks for any advice you may have. Tami
