Here is a fun little fact. Tums, although they advertise that they are a good source of calcium, this unfortunately is not the case. Do they contain calcium? Certainly. However, Tums interferes with vitamin D absorption, which in turn aides in calcium absorption. I know this to be true for human physiology, but how closely this correlates with reptiles is unknown to me. To be on the safe side, I'm supplementing with Four Paws Nature's Reptile calcium spray. It recommends to administer 3 drops orally per day in calcium deficient reptiles. Time will tell if this is the correct course.
