He can injure his snout if he keeps on doing it.
Desiree's advice is great, you may even stick numerous of those plastic vines that come with suction cups to fool him.

Or you may have to temporarily cover it up on the spot where he "splats" the most.

Good luck, and always check for snout or limb injuries!
