I had the same problem when i adopted my now 2 year old male about 16 months ago. I just use a water container and leave it in his cage for a while...at first he never bother to try it...after a while he started to go and since then never miss one time!! Sadly i have to put him up for adoption since I can't keep animals in my apt. and its too small after I moved into this tiny apt. good luck
