:: If an iguana has been feed animal proteins, I have noticed that average lifespans range in the 8-12 year range.
:Hmm, do you mean that an ig who is regularly fed animal proteins will live a much shorter life, or that any ig who was ever fed animal protein will probably not get very old? I adopted my ig as a young adult, and he had a pretty bad diet with previous owners... it was mostly carrots, but he also got some chicken sometimes. Oh well, now he just gets lots of greens and veggies!

Yes and Yes. The majority of people who i have talked to over the years have lost their iguanas that were fed animal protiens in those age ranges. The cause of death was always renal (kidney) disease resulting in total failure. I currently have an adult female that is 11 years old (we think) that was fed insects, cat food, dog food, chicken, cheese and eggs just to name a few things. Im just waiting for the bomb to drop. Remember that when I did this several years ago, I basically took averages. I think someone who had animal protien in their diet had their ig make it to 17. But on the general whole animal protien will reduce life span.
