A few bites of a favorite food and my JJ usually forgets what got her so mad in the first place! I have to be careful though, becuse that anger dissipates slowly, and the first couple times she bites at the food, she's feirce! Keep your fingers out of the way! Iguanas get used to a schedule, and it is not at all unusual for Jewel (cool name by the way) to be mad if she is used to you letting her roam at a certain time. Also, you say youv'e had her only about a week? There is also a chance that she is finaly feeling at home after settling in and her "real" personality is more aggressive. Give her time, treats, and let her have her blankie if she wants it!
:Jewel has been the sweetest, most inquisitive Ig since I've gotten her home last Friday. I love her to death and nothing will ever change that...
:But I couldn't be home yesterday (tuesday) because of my class schedule... and this morning she REALLY wanted me to take her out and let her roam around. And I couldn't because I had class only this morning...
:So I get home, and I immediately go in to see her, and take her out because I KNOW how much she loves to roam around...
:And she puffs up like a mean little sh** and tries to bite me. Not once, but four or five times in quick succession.
:I know Igs aren't like Cats and Dogs... Can't say to them 'no no bad girl' and have her be ashamed...
:She's really mad at me, I think... and I don't know how to a) make ammends, or b) discourage this aggressive behavior.
:I don't WANT her to feel she can bully me around with trying to bite and hiss and be grouchy to me when I CAN'T do what she wants. I positively dote over her every moment I possibly can. When I'm in my room, she's out and about... but she couldn't be yesterday, and now she's awful!
