:UV is very important but if you can take him outside everyday, that is great.
Yep, he has a UVA lamp, just not a UVB lamp, so if he's ok with a half hour outside and the UVA for a couple of weeks, great. Otherwise, I'll go buy him a UVB lamp and if the owners turn up, oh well. So I have no money after spending it on animals, what else is new :)
:He will need a much taller cage eventually but depending on how big he is, he can stay in a cage of the size you mentioned for awhile (if he is very small). You just have to weigh the cost of building a small cage now when you will soon need a larger one.
There's no real loss in expanding what he's currently in, because I was going to do the exact same thing to it for my baby beardie. Just the beardie gets a bigger playpen when I know the owners aren't going to claim Ig, and I build a real pen for Ig.
:Lose the rabbit pellets. The best substrate for iguanas is newspaper, linoleum/tile, or reptile carpet (my least fav).
Cool, thx. I'm not a fan of reptile carpet myself, and this guys nails are LONG. Not going to try to cut them for a few days though, I'd rather make sure he's settling down and ok first. Tile or linoleum I can do though, and of course newspaper.
:Good luck and keep us posted.
Thanks, I'm going to need it! I'm very worried about this guy, I hope he warms up ok. He really hasn't moved at all since I brought him home this evening, but now the lights are out. If he still is looking listless and not moving by mid morning, he's going off to the vets. I'll take him in anyhow, but I'd rather not stress him out more than I have to right now.
