and she's an interesting animal. Cece is just under 3 feet long, chubby, and quite flighty. If she's not paying close attention I can reach out and get a quick pet in before she flees. If caught she struggles for several minutes but will calm down and allow handling but she will never be a "lap lizard". Ctenosaur can be extremely active lizards and entertaining to watch. They should have a very large enclosure with lots of climbing apparatus.
Cece's diet consists of iguana salad daily and bugs or a fuzzy mouse on a weekly basis. She's hilarious when I'm downstairs feeding the other carnivores. She recognizes the sound of the feeding hemostats when they click open and closed. I let her out of her cage and she will follow me from cage to cage, waiting for her fuzzy.
In my experience, the Ctenosaurs' need for good UVB exposure is very great. When using ZooMed's 5.0 bulbs at a distance of 12 inches I noticed signs of MBD in Cece after the bulbs were about 4 months old. Since that time I've been using the PowerSun bulbs on her with good results.
CeCe is kept in a room with several green iguanas, including males, Cyclura iguanas, and Frilled Dragons. The other lizards don't seem to pay any attention to her and she's not bothered by their presence either. I don't know if this would be different if she were a male. I can tell you that the Green Iguanas and Cyclura tolerate each other well in most instances. I keep several freeroaming Green Iguanas and Cyclura together with no problems (so far, as I know this could change).
IJ gave you some good advice when he said to contact Mark M. Mark knows his Ctenos and does some breeding. He's also a nice guy and willing to share his knowledge. I don't know if he has any lizards available but I have been seeing more and more juvenile Spinytails availble at the herp shows. There was a trio of adults offered not too long ago on the classifieds here on KS. I'll keep my eyes open for you. Good luck. I think they are fascinating animals to keep.
