the darkening in coloration can be normal or negative, it depends.
iguanas become darker when colder, stressed, or ill. he may be still adjusting, or he may not feel the warmest. make sure u have proper lighting (UV lights) and temp's for it.
But since he is eating and putting up weight, i wouldn't worry too much.
But do have him checked for endoparasites! Bring fresh fecal sample to a good vet and have him check it out.
As far as sexing the little fella, you won't know for about 2 years or so. Baby and juvenile iguanas show no/or little sexual dimorphism, until they reach "puberty" which is roughly aroubd the 2 to 2 1/2 years of age.
For now give it a "unisex" name, and we'll see.
