that stinks...
...hmmm.... iguanas' dewlaps look "wrinkled" when they are at rest, or retrieved toward the throat. And baby igs are still too small to have a developed dewlap like adults. Large adults extend their dewlap to show territoriality and other things.
From James W. Hatfield's book:
"...if you run your fingers GENTLY along the front edge of the dewlap, near the row of spines that edge it, you will feel the long thin HYOID NONE..." (pg.55)
That bone is what makes iguanas extend and retract their dewlap. If you damage or break it it can be a problem for the iguana.
It is hard to tell without a pic, so please try to post one soon. However, a baby iguana doesn't really have a fully developed dewlap like a 5 footer (oh, and by the way, that's jow big he can get, if not bigger! but if it's a girl, she may just end up to be 4 or 4.5 feet)
Post the pic and we will be able to help you further.
As for living in Belgium... At least they are more welcoming than the French! LOL
I'm sure there is a vet who speaks English, since a lot of people in Europe in general do.
Do you have friends/contacts/anybody to help you out?
While you are at it, order online Hatfield's book "Green Iguana: Ultimate Owner's Manual" and/or Melissa Kaplan's "Iguanas for Dummies"
(it is not really for dummies, it is part of the "For Dummies" series). Both are excellent books. The former is a bit more expensive than the the latter.
Again, it will be easier with a pic of the iglet.
Keep 'em coming!
