Over the week end at the Reptile show in Tampa one of the vendors had Desert Iguanas for sale, including hatchlings. I was very surprised to see the hatchlings. My sons and I got two juveniles and one adult. I asked the vendor what they have been feeding them. He said crickets. Why? DI's are primarily vegitarian they may occationally eat insect. They told me they were from Arizona, and captive bred but I doubt that! The babies are eating greens, but the big guy has only taken carrot, and meal worms. I don't want to feed him many meal worms. I might have to start force feeding him Ensure, to give him the nutrients he needs as directed by Melissa Kaplan on the Herp Care Collection web site. Each day you add alittle lizard salad until it is all lizard salad. Has anyone had success using Ensure and lizard salad feeding their DI's? Or anything else to get their DI'gs to eat their greens like they should. I would like to hear other ways people have got their DI's to eat. Thanks. Bill.
