marisa is right...the running around thing is very normal and a sign of a good healthy iguana baby....

When i first brought Iggy home I was concerned when he would zone out on me and relax; because this is not normal for such little ones. But it has been a while now, and he actually REGRESSED into a fleeting, scampering, CRAZY lizard, and won't sit calmly with me anymore.

Don't rush the natural progression of things...if your little one is active, that is a good sign. if he zones sometimes, I doubt it is anything to worry about, but excessive lethargic behavior when handled, like Marisa said, can be an indicator of stress or illness. (Iguanas do the 'zone out' thing when they are trying to cope with stress...they aren't really sleeping, just shutting themselves off from the stimulus to calm themeselves down. Usually this behavior is seen in older animals, but some babies do it too.)

And as far as the nose against the glass thing, if he is doing it all the time, cover the tank glass with something opaque so he will stop - it can cause open sores or nose rubs if he keeps it up too often.

: Well running is completly normal. And while "pressing his nose against the glass" may be cute, it can cause nose damage if done to often.

: If a baby iguana is going to sleep on you after you get him out, I'd take him to the vet. Baby iguanas are not supposed to be calm by any means. A vet visit is a good idea after buying any animal anyways, have you been yet?

: Marisa
