It's great that you want to help him. He will have a very tough time surviving as winter approaches. Here's an easy way to catch him - make a trap.

Put out a cage with a drop-down door, and tie a string to the door
so that you can release the door from inside the house. Get the birds used to eating inside the cage, and remove the feeder entirely. When the parakeet is used to going inside the cage, drop the door, and you've got him! If you get a few sparrows, release them after you reach in and grab the keet. Remember, budgies are smart little boogers, so you need to be patient untill he lets his guard down. If the first trapping attempt fails, he will remember to avoid the trap.
