Kale or Not Kale?

I've always steared away from kale, but upon rereading Melissa K's web page, it says that the chances of thyroid problems by feeding kale are very low, so it should be OK in a mixed salad. Yet J. Swoffords page says "nay, and thrice nay!".

What's the general feeling on this?
