In Reply to: Is antiseptic soap bad for igs???Why?? posted by Flavia Guimaraes on September 09, 2002 at 22:06:37:
Antiseptic soap is very drying. I actually can not use it on my skin. If i use it on my face i have dry red patches with in an hour. It pulls oils from skin. Another thing is if you are using it to kill germs, eventually germs become more resiliant to the antiseptics.
Try this instead... Go out and buy a soft bristled tooth brush. Gently use it to wash igs with.
Remember some people can have bad reations to soaps they have used for years. The same can happen with pets. Skip the soap and go for the tooth brush.

:Twice a month I wash my igs with antiseptic soap.In general I wash them only with water 2 or 3 times a week.I cannot do it more often because I work and frequently I arrive home late from office. But twice a month I wash them with water and soap.Until now nothing happened!!No allergies, no health problems!
:I do that because only water cannot completely clean them, only water doesnt remove all the small poops and antiseptic soap avoids skin diseases.
:The salesman of a pet shop told me that soap is not good for igs because it dries their skin. The level of humidity where I live is more than 90%!Its the rainy (raining??) season, so it rains all day long!So I dont have to worry about that!
:What do you think??
