In Reply to: A Proposition to All Fellow Iguanids Here @ the Forum...... posted by IGUANA JOE on September 05, 2002 at 11:54:28:
To propose something on that order to Jeff and Crew at kingsnake as soon as new boards are up and running. I had wanted to get a listing of books and boards to check out first as part of the intro to the forum. Since the programming crew are currently busy building the new boards, I figured those would probably be more desired than something like that. However if there is an overwhelming YES from board members here I will broach topic with Christy and GInger (ph staff bosses) and with Jeff and crew and see what we can do. So let me know people, now or something later? Let me know either here (which would be best) or via email.

:I've noticed lately that there are a lot of new people showing up here at the forum. This is a positive sign, meaning more people are truly getting informed about the husbandry of iguanas, and want to talk to experts or knowledgeable folks.
:However, there is often times some repetition in the questions, the most common is a tright out question on overalll care for the igs with growth information included.
:I wonder why people are at times not aware of the iguanas sites out there, particurarly the biblical Melissa Kaplan one, which we all at least checked out once. These people come here sometimes whitout a clue on how to care for an adopted or rescue ig, and I feel sorry if we cannot give full, precise feed-back they need, both in husbandry and health care.
:So my proposition is to put a VISIBLE "Read First" link on this forum that will take the newbie(s) to a page full of summarized, yet precise and correct, information on keeping and caring for iguanas. That, and a list of websites and books they may wish to look at.
:I am not giving the boot to new folks or saying "stop with the simple questions". Instead I think it would be very helpful for all visitors to see what keeping these animals is like.
:A lot of people may come in and post: "How do I do it?", get no or little replies, with different opinions. So why not put something here as an info-center, or a direct link to Melissa Kaplan's website?
:What do you think?
:Yay or nay?
