Well there is always the risk that they can get violent. The beauty of getting a rescue is that if the iguana is old enough, you can tell the sex and possible behavioral traits (to some extent). Males are known for being a problem during breeding season. Some females can be violent, but I think males have the higher risk of violence in general. So you could get a female to minimize the risk...and also find out how her personality is from the rescue group. That is no guarantee that she will stay that way, but it is a better bet to get one that is seemingly nice than one who isn't! I've had males only and so far haven't had too many problems, but Sleestack is starting to show signs of testing my alpha status so he can be alpha in the household. I have to keep an eye on him. He's getting very grumpy and posturing a lot! Good luck.
